Last Friday, on the 3rd of March, primary and secondary school students from the Purísima Concepción in Santander went to the theatre to see two plays in English. The little ones saw 'Robin Hood', the legend of a heroic outlaw and his band of Merry Men, the evil sheriff of Nottingham and a damsel in distress; while the older students enjoyed the play 'I Spy', the story of a secret agent whose mission is to defeat the wicked Doctor. The plays were held in the Jose María Pereda High School and carried out by Face 2 Face theatre company. This theatre group puts on plays in English as a way of teaching the language while students have fun.

Some of our students were chosen from the audience to participate in the play becoming stars for a day, such as Mateo from 3º class, Johann from 2º year and Isabel from 4º year. The got on stage and helped Robin and his Merry men rob from the rich and give back to the poor what the evil sheriff of Nottingham had collected through unjust tax collections.

Two of our secondary school students also got a chance to be star for a day by participating in the play “I Spy”. The evil Doctor tries to manipulate and control the world’s most important government by spreading a deadly virus. To stop her James needs to prove his spy abilities, make new friends and use all the powers that his majesty’s secret service have handed him. However, there is a problem… poor James is very, very clumsy. This hilarious comedy had the audience in stiches laughing.

Once again, this theatre group gave students the chance to both participate in the play and thus practice their English with real actors.

El pasado viernes 3 de marzo los alumnos de 3º a 6º de Primaria y los de Educación Secundaria del colegio Purísima Concepción de Santander fueron al teatro para ver dos obras en inglés. Los pequeños vieron la obra 'Robin Hood', la leyenda de un bandido heroico y su banda de ladrones, el malvado Sheriff de Nottingham y una dama en apuros; y los grandes 'I spy', un agente secreto que tiene como misión combatir a la malvada Dra. Esta actividad teatral, organizada por el IES José María de Pereda de Santander, corrió a cargo de Face 2 Face, compañía de teatro educativo que tiene como objetivo enseñar inglés con sentido de humor y buen hacer.

Algunos de nuestros estudiantes de Primaria, como Mateo, de 3º; Johann, de 2º e Isabel, de 4º, se convirtieron en actores por un día. Subieron al escenario y ayudaron a Robin, junto a su banda 'The Merry Men', a devolver al pueblo la alegría y la justicia tras la recaudación de impuestos del Sheriff de Nottingham, un hombre malhumorado y avaricioso, a los pobres ciudadanos.

Dos alumnos de Secundaria también subieron al escenario para participar en la trama de 'I spy'. La doctora Dra intenta manipular y controlar a sus gobiernos mundiales con un peligroso virus. Para detenerla, James necesita confiar en su entrenamiento como espía, hacer nuevas amistades y utilizar todos los artilugios que los Servicios Secretos de su Majestad le va a proporcionar, pero se enfrentará con otro formidable obstáculo: su propia torpeza e ineptitud. Sin duda, otra comedia desternillante que gustó a todos los alumnos.

Tanto con la comedia de 'Robin Hood' como con 'I spy', los escolares disfrutaron muchísimo de la puesta en escena a la vez que pusieron en práctica sus conocimientos de inglés.
