Proyecto Comenius

An e-mail from Italy
Una profesora Italiana

Dearest Spanish friends,

My name is MªAntonietta and I'm a teacher of English.I want to tell you things about my school and we would like you to send many e-mails to our students in Benevento.

I will soon give your students' email addresses to mine so that they can start exchanging messages. They are aged from 14 to 19/20 so they are older than yours: therefore I think it would be better to involve students from the first class, and also those ones from the third because they are nice kids and would really enjoy writing letters to pen pals!

My school is called "Istituto tecnico per geometri" which means it is a school for aspiring surveyors. It is situated in Benevento which, is an ancient Roman city full of Roman remains: the Arch of Trajanus, the Roman Theatre, Santa Sofia's church etc. Actually the city is much older than that: they have casually found remains of the Sannite people and strata of even older ages in a locality called contrada Cellarulo and think the authorities are studying a project for the recovery and maintenance of the site which is very interesting from a tourist and archaeological point of view.

My school is in the center of Benevento, in piazza Risorgimento,
near other other two schools so the square is usually full of children early in the morning and at exit time. It's a very lively area, actually.

The curricula are very interesting because they are full of cultural and technical professional subjects concerning the surveying field. The number of inscriptions has been lately dropping since the building construction sector was undergoing a serious crisis; but now many building sites have opened so I thing the surveying profession and also this type of studies will soon be fashionable again. Besides students do not only specialize in the building construction sector but focus mainly on the recovery of old
buildings, especially those which have artistic and architectonic value.

Our school offers a wide range of opportunities: we have had post diploma courses for many years by now and from this year we will also organize courses for drop out students (students who have left school before the age of 18 and so have to attend a vocational course), for adult learners (we have ECDL - European Computer Driving Licence preparatory courses, CAD courses, etc.)

Also after morning classes, students who have special interests may attend music workshops (guitar, piano, singing), photography lessons, CAD courses, theatre workshops, computer courses, etc.

In the past years we took part into Leonardo Program. We were contracting partener of Aresleo project. If you are curious to see what it was about, just go to www.isfol.it and look for Aresleo. It was one of the pilot project approved in the first year when Leonardo started.

Now I've finished celebrating my school of which I'm very fond, as you must have noticed..., and I just add that my students are very lively and, to make things sound more realistic, sometimes I wish they were less noisy and more diligent...

I'm the veteran of a group of four English teacher, so I can ask the others if they would like to collaborate with our project. There is also a French teacher who might be involved.
I hope to hear from you very soon so that I can get a deeper insight into what you've planned. Did you know that Benevento is famous as the "witch town"? Maybe we might develop something about the legends of our countries.

Students in my area have been on strike for more than one month because they are against the reform the government is going to approve. This is the reason why you haven't received e-mails for so long. The situation is getting more and more complicated
because, as you can imagine, we are very back with syllabus.

I hope everything will be all right soon but Christmas holidays are coming so there will be another stop in school activities. However I'm very interested in this Comenius and I hope to reestablish normality soon.

Happy Chistmas for everybody.

Love from,
Maria Antonietta

A great Summer in Polientes
Por Carmen, Sofía y Elena, alumnas de 2ºA.

Last summer we went to a camping to Polientes. It is a village near Reinosa. We liked that camping very much. These are some of the things we did there:

-Riding bikes
-Swimming in the swimming pool and in the river
-Sing walking
-Ddoing rafting
-Climbing
-Having parties
-Having funny horror nights

Many friends from school and our family (cousins) went there.
The first week we thought that it wasn´t much interesting but the second one we liked it a lot.

We made a lot of friends :
-Berta and Regina from Logroño
-Esther and Lara from Limpias near Ampuero
-Luna from Castro Urdiales
-Blanca ,Mar and Maria from Reinosa
-Tania, from Guarnizo... and many more.

In the midle of our stay we celebrated a parents day. During the whole day many people from our families came to see us and they took us to a restaurant near the Ebro.

In Polientes we took English classes. Our English teachers' names were Pilar and Elida.

It was cool!

Cantabria nuestra región
Andrea y Alicia, alumnas de 2ºC

In Cantabria you can do a lot of things in your free time. In summer you can go to the beach, we've got a lot of beaches. People go in the evening to the beach, they think it's very relaxing.

In winter you can go to the cinema (the most popular cinemas are in the Corte Inglés & in Valle Real).Other days of the week, you can go to restaurants, next to the beach, you've got a lot of good seafood, and fish.

You can go to see a football match to Santander, the capital of Cantabria. But when you feel cold you can make a fire in your chimney and play games with your family or with your friends.
In Cantabria young people aren't at home, all of us like going out with friends.
